This Privacy Policy explains how COURIERS EXPRESS SERVICES PTY LTD ABN 33 063 649 730, trading as Quality Couriers (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information.

We provide courier, transport and logistics services as part of the Leggett Group operating structure. References to “Leggett Group businesses” or “associated group businesses” mean courier and transport businesses operating through shared systems, central administration, common operational support or shared management arrangements.

We respect the privacy of our customers, delivery recipients, suppliers, contractors, drivers, staff, job applicants and other people we deal with, and we handle personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.

At a glance

This is a plain-English summary, not a substitute for the rest of the policy.

  • We collect the information we need to run a courier and transport business — mainly contact details, booking and delivery information, proof of delivery, and information about drivers, contractors and staff.
  • We use it to take bookings, complete deliveries, manage accounts, run our business and meet our legal obligations.
  • We share information with associated Leggett Group businesses, our service providers (IT, accounting, insurance and similar), and others where reasonably necessary or required by law.
  • We do not sell personal information.
  • You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by contacting our Privacy Officer.

Our business and the Leggett Group

Although each Leggett Group business trades under its own name and issues invoices under its own legal entity, some staff, drivers, dispatch, administration, customer service and IT systems are shared across associated businesses.

This means personal information may be used or disclosed between associated Leggett Group businesses where reasonably necessary for transport operations, customer service, administration, billing, compliance, safety, insurance, reporting or business management.

The personal information we collect depends on our relationship with you. Common categories include:

  • Engagement details — ABN or business details, licence and vehicle information, insurance and right-to-work information, and references or work history.
  • Operational records — work allocation, service history, job activity and location information while providing services.
  • Financial details — bank account and payment records.
  • Safety and compliance information — incident, claims and compliance records.

Delivery recipients

We often receive delivery recipient details from a customer, sender or other third party rather than directly from the recipient. This may include the recipient’s name, address, phone number, delivery instructions, signature and proof of delivery. We use it to perform the delivery, provide proof of delivery, respond to enquiries, manage claims or disputes, and maintain business records.

Sensitive information

We generally do not collect sensitive information unless it is reasonably necessary, required or authorised by law, or collected with consent. Sensitive information may include health, injury or accident details, licence or background-check information, and other compliance information relevant to safety, insurance, employment, contractor management or transport operations.

How we collect personal information

Where practical, we collect personal information directly from you — for example, when you contact us, create or use an account, book a service, or apply for a job or contract.

We also collect it from other sources, including senders and receivers in transport jobs; our drivers and staff; associated Leggett Group businesses; suppliers, agents and service providers; insurers and brokers; publicly available sources where appropriate; and through website cookies, analytics, reCAPTCHA, transport management systems and CCTV.

Overseas disclosure

We primarily operate in Australia. Our transport management system is provided by an Australian company and hosted in Australia.

Some of our other technology providers — including website hosting through AWS, email through Google Workspace, and reCAPTCHA through Google — may store, process or access information from outside Australia, including the United States and other countries where those providers, their related companies or their service providers operate.

Where we disclose personal information overseas, or where overseas access is likely, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.

How we hold and protect personal information

We hold personal information in electronic systems (including transport management, email, accounting and cloud platforms), paper files and business records.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include access controls, password protection, secure systems, restrictions on staff and contractor access, system monitoring, backups, physical security for paper records, and internal procedures for handling personal information.

No system or method of internet transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

How long we keep personal information

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which we collected it — including providing services, managing accounts, maintaining booking and delivery records, meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolving disputes, managing insurance and claims, maintaining safety and compliance records, and keeping business records.

When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy, delete or de-identify it, unless we are required or permitted by law to keep it.
